Was probably cheating. Seemed to hit players immediatly but not redeemers, same as that other one. SP!FF said a triggerbot and that there is an update to UTDC for it. Not sure who he is either, he seemed really good. I'm looking now for that patch.
Funny thing about this guy though was he really didn't want to be watched, and never said much. When wave went to spectate him he just dropped out. Twice on different maps when I went to spectate him, he just disconnected.

Did someone accidently edit my post rather than reply? I don't remember asking if the IP was italian...
The first couple times it was real quick, like you describe. The last time I managed to watch him about 30 seconds and then he disconnected. I think they have a thing that notifies them when someone spectates them maybe. He didn't disconnect until I actually had it on him, first I had flown to him to watch from a little distance and that didn't bother him. Then I put it actually on him and he went away. I had just switched to his view so I could try and see how he was getting people so quick, saw him jerk around and kill 3 guys that weren't too close to each other in about 3 seconds and then he disconnected.

It was my edit but I was in a hurry and tagged yours instead of mine...it's fixed.

Sounds like he was running a couple things. All this crap and I simply cannot understand how anyone that runs this shit can get any sense of victory, accomplishment or even satisfaction knowing they had to cheat to compete.
Well Wave came in last night and had to kick a person named Grand_graine that really sucked in the first map he played and then turned on something for 3ommies Resort/Pond. He and Sp!ff accused me of botting and running a cheat. After Wave kicked him, another person arrived named Zannn2700 who was a bit suspicious - he left after grabbing about 21 frags in 9 minutes or so. Sp!ff is a bit suspicious too - since I checked his Game Tracker stats last night after playing 4 hours on our server he had a 1.9/min kill rate.
I don't have admin privys so I don't know anything about their IP's - but I'm willing to gamble that this is the same guy/guys that have been a real pain in the ass lately. Of course they just change names as usual. There is also something like a "remote" IP program that spammers use to fake an IP through another country. Could be using something like this?
Dunno really, but I take pride in my game - and the server is progressively getting less fun to play on night after night. This is a real problem.
Sadly,I agree about the loss of fun. Considering how frequently we now have to suffer the cheating I suggest we not study too carefully before booting. We now have enough experience to draw on to tell us if someone is cheating or not, let's not let it ruin the server traffic or our own gaming. If you spectate and it looks fishy boot-em.

I still will want to be sure unless it is a repeat offender. I just wish more admin tools could be added to tell if somebody's actually running something or not.
Why couldn't we (all DOU) become mainly a 2K4 server ?... Tools against fuckers are much more active !
The thing would be to take the time to inform all the regulars (game automatic messages and members action) to have it installed till the day it starts. And then swap from UT99 to UT2K4...
And I can ensure everyone that 2K4 is loads of fun too (no less than 99)
It's only an idea (this is what's been done by other clans that were fed up with cheaters, youngsters and all the lacks of respect... you know what I mean)...
Don't know what Tommy could think about that ?... Let's exchange on this ?!...
Note from Cygnus: I copied this thread to the DOU General Discussion part of the forum (thread titled DOU 2K4) because this has more implications for than clan than just a secrity issue. Just follow the link below...

I do too Cyg, If they were available to me I would use them. A lot of times it's just plain obvious though.
What I'm saying is many of us have observed these guys running various cheats and now know the warning signs. For instance a player that seems to know the location of every other player in a given map but can't spot a redeemer comming at him. Or, a player that turns to fire just as someone rounds a corner, not once but several times. Everyone does it once in a while but over and over ? Then there's my favorite, the guy in the middle of the map spinning around like a top taking down everthing in, or out, of sight.
I don't like the thought of chasing off innocent players, but what I find more offensive is allowing the constant flow of cheats, hacks and R&G players to ruin the game for our membership and guests. This is a clan server and while it may be open to the public I was always under the impression that it exists to serve the membership. Our guests find it offensive as well, many of them typing their dissapointment on their way out of the server.
It seems to be comming down to shielding the guilty and the potentialy guilty, at the expense of the innocent. Getting concrete proof is not within our means right now, so what are we supposed to do ?

As so often happens yo mama already made all the points I would have, so I'll just agree with his good post. 8)
