General Amnesty

Here is the deal. I have cleared the sniper server I.P. ban list. The ASC bans are most likely still in place though (need to look into that).

I looked at the web admin today and saw how many bans there were, most due to the Canadians. It was insane...literally hundreds of scattered I.P.'s just from them.

I suspect that this may be a large part of the server instability. Due to not wanting to sort through hundreds and hundreds of I.P.'s, I just cleared the list.

I figure it is not a big deal for 2 reasons. First, the Canadians have been blackholed right at the server router, so having their I.P.'s banned on the sniper server is not necessary. If they could get past the router, they sure could then get past the server bans. But it is unlikely that they can get past the router. The second reason is that I don't think we have really banned anyone else in a long time, so anyone else probably has a new I.P. by now anyway. Yeah, I would like to have kept the list, but it was the lesser of 2 evils doing this (going through the list would have been a nightmare). So anyone who squeaks by is lucky, but we will nail them again soon.

Let's see if this improves server stability, I hope so.

Time to learn? You have heard me mention blackholing someone. Here is what that means. If the server receives any data from a banned I.P., it simply will not respond. It will not respond with any type of banning stuff, it just simply does not respond...like light (or anything else) going into a blackhole...one way deal.

I don't think it's improved the crash situation though. Still happening.

I dont think it has anything to do with the server crashing. πŸ˜• Is it always when people vote a certain map that it crash?

Where was that app that reports what happens when the server crashes???

What are we pushing for a server?

No, it can happen anytime. I was on alone the other day and it went down when I voted in 24hour fitness. Nothing wrong with that map.

These problems started when Teck and Co. were screwing around with everything they could. Might be coincidence or might not.

The server is still going to crash on occasion.

Right after I did this, the server crashed a few times so I thought I might be wrong about why. However, things are really looking good. I am thinking that the worst may be behind us. Solid server (20 people) all night long and the server held strong.
