Letting people go....where is the line drawn?

I was spectating recently and one of our people started telling someone to leave their area a couple times. So I switched over to the member to see who was not leaving. Got there just in time to see the guest leave. Our player let the guest go and then fragged him while he was still moving about half the map away.

Maybe some interpret this differently but when I let a player leave my area I don't shoot him until he finds cover or gets out of sight for awhile. I also do not expect the player to use it to find a position (and I don't care how far away it is) to kill me for being nice enough to follow the rules and let him go.

Discussion?

I ask people to leave my spot and if they do I wont shoot them. If a member did this then its bad news or hopefully a mistake. I do expect this behaviour only from guests that arent very well known on our server.

As for the part of shooting me, because he will know where I am. I will always move a bit, unless the spot is very good defenceble. The other way around I will not shoot the player when I have left his spot inmediatly. I will shoot at him however when I get shot and respawn in another spot. I make exceptions when the player has an egg in the game πŸ™‚

Good question Cyg, I wonder what others have to say about it.

When ever I leave an occupied area I never kill that person. I do keep tabs on him though should he move or someone takes over the spot.

As far as letting people go. I don't even watch them leave so I don't know where they go to. I just go on trying to fine people. I get killed a lot doing this but I feel good about how I played. If I see them a few min later they are fair game. Also if they do leave and kill me too quick they will be shot on site even if I just let them leave. Revenge is justified then IMO.

I would have called them on it. Its bullshit.

I do however suspect who it was....

Who?

Giving names is always better than avoiding it, or suspecting names and commenting hypotetical situations....

I never kill players who leave my spot.

I've been killed many times by the players I've let go...

But something that I consider inappropriate is when an administrator tells a player to follow the rules, other members that are playing feel involved, who have not seen anything, writting request to go read the forum rules or insulting to the player.

Dick move IMO if the guy left. Next time he won't listen to that member and it undermines us all.

I complained about this over a year ago, when playing in Large Lego blocks. I spawned and went to hide but found a player in that spot, he let me leave and as I got half way across the the outer edge of the map he shot me, I was told by Dark and others, "Too Bad, it took you to long to find a spot". I don't agree with this type of play its cheap, when I let a player go, I let them get to a spot. if they become visible to me after I will shoot.

I have had many players complain to me when I ask them not to do something and the reply is, "why DOU members do it to me all the time."

This needs to stop if we expect guests to play fair.

Also I think this was a problem during the recent DOU vs DOU.

I will start calling DOU members on this if I see it.

I try to apply a policy:

If some player is coming to my spot or is respawning in it, I 'm letting him go away and I'm waiting till he disappears from the range of my eyeshot.

Sometimes ( it may look funny) when still I can see him, I ask if I may shoot at him or again ask him to go away.

If I hear "yes" or hear no answer then I shoot.

Another story, that some DOU members don't do similarly. I had the opportunity to find out about this when played in the tournament DOU vs. DOU. I admit, that it freaked me a little and affected my further behaviour during the game. :nonono:
