New ban policy

I am thinking a new and better policy might better serve our interests.

How about this - Bans will be permanent but with an appeal process. The process can be informal, we will just deal with people on a case by case basis. However, when banned, even if the appeal is successful, it can not be lifted before 30 days. This way, even if we decide to give someone a second chance down the line, there are still consequences to their actions.

Sounds like a winner.

Tommy's sugestion sounds good to me.

So this new procedure would start with Aggrieved if I understand correctly.

An Admin needs to tell him in game about his ban. If he needs more info he can find it on the forum.

We will set up a thread for him to respond to as usual, which can be found in the complaint department of the forum.

I fully agree with T.

But I fully disagree with this:

In my opinion, infractors or undesirable people should be simply banned.

It would mean two possible things:

a) The banned does not matter about the ban. Then good for all...

b) The banned comes to the forum to ask about. Then the Security Officer will explain him why he was banned and what is supposed he need to do to get the ban lifted...

This way is easy and simple for us.

I like Tommy's idea.

Still I sustain my proposal to give the privilege of booting troublemakers out in the course of the game to all DOU members.

Refering to my post:

Thats still the way we used to do it.

I'm ok with the banning without an Admin having to tell the banned player of his ban, but we still have to make a post on the complaint department were he can make a comment in favor for himself.

Refering to R_Mad's post:

If the banned player doesn't come to the forum then point a) The banned does not matter about the ban. Then good for all... will still stand.

If he does come to the forum also point b) The banned comes to the forum to ask about. Then the Security Officer will explain him why he was banned and what is supposed he need to do to get the ban lifted... will still stand.

FYI, Aggrieved was informed of his ban, that's when he came into TS3 to cause trouble.

I believe we must take action on this and stop the useless 30 days ban votation and the illogical method to notify the ban to the infractors...(an admin during the games...)

In the case of [DUS]Aimgot, the action should be simply apply the ban.

If he does not come any more to play to the server, great for us...

The alternative for him is to go to the forum to ask about the ban.

That's the moment to give him all the reasons respect his ban and establish clearly what he need to do to get the ban lifted...

If his explanations are not satisfactory the ban will be permanent.

If explanations are satisfactory and/or an apologie is received, the ban will be for 30 days...

This is very useful for us and educative for guests who read the forum

I have chanced the 30days ban into a permanent ban policy as stated by Tommy in his post above.

See this thread about [DuS]AimGot:

Oh my Lord, give me, please, a privilege to kick rude players out.

I'll clean up the server out of these assholes quickly.

After the today's game I am fed up with them. :redflipoff:

I was in as a spectator and kicked two new players after several warnings.

It wasn't as bad as it might have looked while playing in game.

Remember that an Admin has an overall view as a spectator, which can be very different from the players point of view.

Admins are supposed to look at the game in an objective way. The choices we must make are based on this.

The questions an admin has to ask himself are among others;

Is this a new player, who has to learn the rules yet?

Is this a familiar player with a bad attitude?

Is this a regular player having a bad day?

Is a player moving excessive? (And what is excessive in an Admins eye at that moment).

Is this player moving a lot or does it just looks that way because he’s a good target and respawns everywhere?

I can truly empathise with you, because I know how I felt before I was an Admin. I’ve been pissed off many, many times. If you would become an admin yourself, Rad, you need to get that cold impassive eye of an admin also 8) .

I personaly wouldn’t mind if you got on spectate mod once in awhile to look if what you see/feel as a player is put in the right prespective when confronted with reality. You might be surprised 🙂 .
