I know at least a couple of us received friend invites from HC at FN. I accepted on the off chance it was our HappyFnCamper. It wasn't so I deleted him from my friends.

Never done it before so I dunno if he was notified of it or not. Anyhow he sent me another message:

Thanks for adding me to your friends list. Any chance you could get the DOU admins to stop kicking me off the server or at least refrain from calling me a cheat? I know we discussed my technical rule infraction, and while I viewed the incident differently I clearly expressed that it was your call. However, I find it hard to believe that it warrants all of namecalling by some of the other admins.

Thanks. Happy_Camper

The "technical rule infraction" he is referring to is being caught dropping trans by myself.

My reply yesterday:

You need to go to clandou.com and register on the forum. You can make your case for reinstatement of priveleges there.

There is nothing I can do by myself since the decision for the 30 day ban was unanimous and then you intentionally disregarded it which made it permanent.

You've consistantly put the goal of winning a map before fair-play and as a result have violated rule after rule. That pissed off alot of people. So be aware that if you do decide to come to the forum you will have alot of convincing to do.

Cygmus

Got this today:

Hey Cyg!

I appreciate the response and understand that the process involves more than just you. I have made multiple attempts to register an account on the forum and have been denied access everytime. That has made it impossible to even state a case so I continued to play and express my concerns to certain players via in-game chat.

Just a little background...it took me nearly a month to figure out that I had actually been banned. It looks like I was able to continue playing because the screen name changes on my machine periodically because I let my 2 kids play UT99 on my PC. I "try" to make sure that they do not do so under my name and I don't always remember to change the screen back right away. Additionally, for purposes completely unrelated to UT99, I do not use a static IP address so it looks like that also lengthed the amount of time it took me to discover my ban.

Therefore, I am clearly guiltly of continuing to play on the server, but I beg to differ with many of the posted assessments of my play. Like virtually everyone else that plays on the server, my play has not yet reached 100% compliance with the rules. In fact, I wasn't even aware of the rule that I violated when you initial banned me for a map. However, based on the many hours of play I have put in on your server, I feel that I am one of the more rule compliant players on the server. I am sorry people some people are pissed off, but honestly a good bit of that results from differences in skill level and experience.

Anyway, I will be happy to post this on the forum if I was permitted to have an account. Thanks.

My reply:

I'll check into the forum registration problem. As far as I know you shouldn't be having problems signing up. I'll check into it.

-Cygnus

So anybody know why he couldn't sign up on the forum? We need to get that straightened out.

In any case I don't know how much good it'll do him. That little remark about "differences in experience and skill level" being why people are having issues with him is a good example of how full of himself he is. Yup, he didn't do anything wrong....we're all just jealous.

Well, let's get him on the forum and let him make his arguement. Should be interesting.

As we know he's not on a static ip so even if he had been banned on the forum on one ip he should still be able to join. unless i think his name was banned !!!!

*Just looked i think its because he never confirmed the account tell him he needs to use a valid email addy and reply to the message sent to it.....*

I've called him a cheater several times before booting his ass off of the server.

I made the statement beause I believe it to be true and he didn't seem to be taking the repeated kickings as a hint....

Don't recall "Happy_Camper" ever being banned from the forum for anything.

I don’t think he was notified that you deleted him from your friends list Cyg. Your name as being his friend still comes up when I look into his profile. It’s not that bad to be on his friends list at this moment because now we get some inside looks in the way he is thinking.

The technical rule infraction which he is referring to isn’t the only thing that got his ass kicked. However he is still viewing the incident “differently”, like he said. And what does he mean by name calling? I know I had some arguments with him in the past without name calling from my side, but from his side. Speaking for myself, he could never reply in a normal way when I called him on breaking a rule. It always ended out in arguments from his point of view.

I am really curious of what he has to say in his defend when he signs up on the forum. I still think it will hurt his case more than that it makes things better for him.

Playing that many hours on our server doesn’t automatically makes him one of the more rule compliant players on the server as he stated. I am for one someone who is really pissed off by his type of game play and it has nothing to do with skill and experience. It has all to do with BEHAVIOUR!

I’m looking forward to see his tread on the forum.

Fuck that guy

He seems to have forgotten all the times he got belligerent with admin after he broke rules. He knows how to follow the rules and only does when it suits him

He has gotten a lot of name calling from other regulars on the server before because they also didn't like his play...

Agreed Evil, he is not a popular player. This is as much his poor attitude as his game play.

The guy has a huge ego 🙄

Mama-

Thanks for adding to the discussion. I have to admit that I am somewhat confused about the attitude issues that are clearly concerning some (or all) of the members. Most of the occasions where I have been "called out" for things are not in fact rule violations (for example, revenge from a distance is not revenge, assualting someone using a deemer is not assualt, no rule against shooting a spawning player that fails to use his/her spawn time to escape) and I always try to respond to those allegations to at least educate others players on the rules. I guess my style in doing that is improper and needs improvement. There are also occassions where rule interpretations are necessary, and I should probably just let those go as well to foster better play.

Is it possible for you to perhaps send me some sort of a compulation of the complaints you have received about my play? I do not want to know who submitted them, but I would like to understand the nature of the complaints and which rules I am violating. I have to admit being quite taken aback when I first discovered the posts about me, but most seem to lack specifics and I do not recall ever even having contact with some of the posters. There several players (both members and non-members) who I have gotten to know through and played regularly on the DOU server that also shared my surprise. I am not saying that any of the posters are wrong (with a minor exception that I will just keep to myself and ignore), but I am confused.

I thought that it might be less disruptive to contact you directly rather than start some he said-she said drama on the forum. I would like to issue an appology, but I would like to better understand what it is for first so that it can be geniune. Thanks.

Happy_Camper (Super_Happy_Camper@live.com)

Happy,

Regardless of whether the allegations against you are true or false it would behoove you to say something to the effect of " If my playing or comments have offended anyone I am sorry" This statement does not presume guilt but rather a concern for the feelings of your fellow players.

To let you know I myself have been on the server and been witness to some remarks from you that seemed callous and insulting.

Several times when people have taken issue with things you have done in game you have told them they were whinning because they were losing or similar rather than explaining yourself or trying to understand where they are commng from. Would it have killed you to explain why they were mistaken ?

Courtesy is not overrated. I find generally the more I show it to others the more I receive it in return. For instance, allowing someone who is spawning to run away and hide without keeping your sight on them to shoot them the minute the spawn timer runs out. Or, not chasing after them to get an easy frag.

I know not everyone who plays on our server is courteous. We get a lot of the R&G crowd that think they can come here and run over everyone just because they are "Good players".

Policing the server takes a lot of time and unfortunately many of us don't have the time we once did because of the change in the economy. So, yes there are players here from time to time that are undesireable.

The regulars are your peers here and you would be wise to realize who they are and show them a measure of respect even if they do not have skills on a par with your own.

As an admin here I can tell you we don't take ouselves too seriously as a clan. We don't think we are the best players around and we don't mind losing to a better player and there are lots of great players out there. However how someone wins here is a big deal to us. Sportsmanship and courtesy are also a big deal to us.

You have asked for a compilation of complaints we have received about you. I'm sorry but I don't believe that is possible outside of those made by our membership. A lot of the complaints were made in-game and would require hours and hours of going through server logs. We might be able to paraphrase some of the member complaints for you but honestly I don't know what you hope to accomplish with this. Do you plan to debate every single account of your missbehaving on our server ? There were too many of them for all of them to be wrong. Not to mention that several of them were made by clan admins.

You may not share our view of your behavior here but that will not alter the way you are seen. many times after you have left the server people who you play with (DOU and non clan regulars) have complained about what you do in-game. Many times your fellow players will choose not to confront you because they come here as a form of escape. The last thing they want is to argue and spoil their own fun which is why you may not be aware of the fact that many dislike the way you treat them. I, on the other hand, get an earfull about you and there are quite a few posts concerning you.

Believe me it's not easy to get banned here, someone has to work at it. We try hard to communicate in game with the offender. We also pay attention to their response, if we get one at all. Admins will almost always document warnings given in the security section (members only) of our forum so we can see if a pattern develops with a given player.
