OUR OWN BOTS !!!!

.

I’ve got a complaint from someone who said a lot of people were running and gunning. The true matter however was that there were 3 people on the server, myself included, that was doing real camping, but the bots did R&G like grazy. I’ve been realizing that most of the time the bots are really abusing almost every rule we made. The Bots are running and gunning, assaulting, revenging and even seen some dropping trans, no kidding.

I can imagine that this way new people on our server will think this is the normal way to do and will copy this behaviour. In other words the Bots are giving a real bad example for a camping server.

Is there a way to solve this or is it just the way the bots do? 🙄

I agree with you.

The bots usually encourages players to R&G. Mainly the running bots.

All that remains is to find a bot using cheats...

There are a way to solve this. No problem. But we need to modify the server maps.

I think is not a bad idea to do that modification, because in the same oportunity we can change the spawn points too, (like the *TNT* maps), to make the games less predictable and add fun.

Bots behavior can be modified so they tend to stay put.

I can see where the bots R&G behavior could infuence newbs but this shouldn't be used as an excuse for veteran players.

One thing that should definitely be done ASAP is to remove the clan tag from the "Meat" bot. I believe this has been the source of some R&G complaints about DOU members.

I find it funny when people complain about bots in game. I don't remember his name but he asked me who Jerry Aikens was recently. I asked why and he said because he was following him around on a team game. I said maybe you should look at the ping. He looked and said zero. Then asked why that mattered. I explained it to him and explained the rules to him. He still didn't get most of it. So in conclusion I think if people aren't smart enough to figure out that its a bot they aren't going to figure out the rules very well. Or they don't care. Call me an asshole but I think people really are that dumb.

I wont call you an asshole Abb. I think its a very realistic point of view.

I've had the same issue once with a player who started a conversation with a bot, about the way he played. 😆

It's just that, in my opinon, if you're getting spawnkilled by a bot it gives a wrong signal to the players on the server, no matter if they're newbs or veterans.

IMO newbs are the future of the game if it has one. I think the bots should camp as we expect everyone else to.

They can be made to camp more and you can also dampen their awareness to they don't pick up a target very easy.

But how far you want to dumb the bots down? All a player would need is have a few spawn points in their scope and it's all free frags.

I'd like to see [BOT] in front or behind each bot's name and see how much difference that makes first.

Run and Gun is contagious, including veterans...

I was astonished when at the TKK server I saw running and gunning the entire TKK clan... when the game ended, just a few of them realized... 😀

You are right on this, but on the other hand some people think this one is the only well educated DOU member, because he never says rude things...

If the bots camped you would never find half of them.

I am no expert, but I think that the movement is programmed into the maps. Bot routes, so to say. Not sure on this.

Personally, I think Redneck Scumbag is using radar and an aimbot

You could turn up the alertness and the accuracy to the max. 😈

That would learn those who can't stay put in a map.

No, don't believe so. They do walk sometimes.

I've heard of Bot-paths but I don't know how they effect the various settings that can be made for Bot behavior.

You can adjust from low to high their Alertness, Accuracy, Camping and Strafing.

There are also choices of combat style which are Normal, Aggressive, Berserk, Cautious and Avoidant.

I guess it really comes down to what you want for Bot behavior. Do you really want lobotomized targets or something that can provide at least somewhat of a challenge?

You can tell maps without bot paths because they never move except if they see someone. Those maps are really boring with only a couple people on because you never even see the bots to shoot. I like having them move around to shoot. It really shouldn't take long for people to understand that they are bots. I agree with cygnus, they really should say BOT in front of their name as a tag, people have complained about meat assaulting them thinking it was a clan member. It has always irritated me that way. Redneckscumbag is the loque bot, when you play a single player game he is mean. Same one, just named different. Don't much like that name either, loque was cool. I'd take a couple more that aggressive, make the play more difficult, more of a challenge. There are a couple that are nearly that mean. Sure it sucks when you run into one you don't see and get killed, but oh well. We could fix that by adding noclosekill mod and they would kill themselves.

I downloaded noclosekill and it has a setting for distance, default is 512 but I have no idea what that measurement is. Maybe I'll ask smitty on tkk what theirs is set at to get an idea, or just mess with the setting and try it.

BOT PATHS MAY BE CHANGED OR DELETED EASILY. IT MUST BE DONE IN THE MAPS...

BOT SKILLS NEED BE CHANGED IN THE SERVER.
