I guess that the main point of this is that the ban stick is only in the possession of a few people while the kick boot is owned by more. I trust the people that can actually ban someone to do that if necessary. Booting OTOH is not permanent and is no big deal. In the original post, DM said that he kicked this player. No biggie.

Yes i could ban a player but as tommy does not want any player banned by any one but him, as far as i am concerned i will never ban a player. Another interesting point in this is the same player came back a couple of hours later the only complaint/comment he made to me was "ohh you didn't have to kick me" and played the remainder of the map still under suspicious circumstances, was watched by tommy and was kicked again in a later map ..........

If we do not trust the ones who can kick players then we have a problem

I think they do DOU a good job it takes time to keep a watch on the servers like that but it has to be done by someone all I can say is keep up the good work you do a great job

I know this is Darkmatters post but this is relative ( read this whole thread from the begining folks you've missed the point)

The question I put before everyone was ...

Do you think we should kick/ban someone we are SURE is using some kind of cheat even though we may not have the technology to PROVE that they are using a cheat ? ? ?

Sometimes it is just way too obvious yet even with current detection software they still get on the server. Short story, there's always a way around detection.

By the way TKK has redone their "Pro -1" server and guess what message is running over and over. More or less the same thing I mentioned <lol> clan is running (earlier in this thread). It says "If we suspect you are cheating, you're gone."

Post your thoughts.

yea mama i think long as the admins monitor the ?able peps yall can make a good judgement most the time when things just point blank aint right with somebody. honestly i think weve done a good job so far i dont see any that i think are running cheats to ?. Yall have taken care of them already, i think should just keep things running like they are seems to be working pretty good in my opinion

Kick = yes

Ban = No

Before someone is banned, we had better be 100% sure that cheats are being used. As I said earlier, kicking is temporary and no big issue.

If you suspect someone and you spectate (from his camera) what he is really doing, you can be pretty sure if he aims by himself or if he is as fast as it can't be a human job !

Sometimes you can see far away targets killed witout even a zooming !!!

But the foreign is narrow with some players like DoC guys. Some of them have always been suspected of cheats but when you look at their demo/video they've put on their site, you see great skills and I think only human skill !

I think on your own server, you could kick any one suspected. that's enough to have an opinion but after a while (not on the first minute you suspected it !)

The server could display a message about "kicked or banned players" telling them that if the think they've been victims of an abusive ban they can complain at http://www.clandou.com or to Tommy's DOU mail.

That way could let you know if a ban was right or wrong. A cheater never asks for what he's been banned for.

You could go around on other servers to see how they manage with this problem... I did and I noticed that most of great servers are very severe with cheaters or freestylers (in case of camping servers) to protect and keep up their fair and cool "customers"...
