O.K. Some of you are gonna know me some of you are gonna say who the fuck is this guy. I have been a member here for many years. Although I don't play for all of the reasons above I still am very active behind the scenes. I know Tommy wants the biggest best server in the UT Universe and that is all well and good but I and we are paying the price for popularity.

Cyg was right, I also would rather have a smaller server with good people to play with instead of the circle jerk it has become. What would be really scary is if Bison agreed...lol.

All kidding aside I know for a fact I do not play because of what the server has become. A day does not go by when I think maybe I'll go play UT, then I think of all the assholes that came here when i gave up and all the assholes I read about here. I just say to myself why bother. I loved playing UT, I love DOU, and I really enjoyed playing with you guys...even you Tommy. I also know for fact that this is the same reason Shortie don't play anymore.

Seems to me that the security issues part of our forum should NOT be the 6th most posted. That tells you something right there. It is way past time we take OUR server back. It should have been done A long tome ago...remember Geoff. Now we are going to ban one of the biggest internet providers in Canada. And you all know the f-tards from there will just find a way around that too. How many of our favorite people and DOU family members do we have to chase away before we do something.

I say password the server, It would be nice to be able to come home again.

I would rather play with a few good friends than a world of assholes.

Charger is right. I stopped playing because I found that I had to police the server more than I could play on it because of everyone breaking the rules. It gets very frustrating and imo I play a game to have fun, not get frustrated. I have College to do that for me.

Ok you shamed me into replying to this post. I also have viewed this post every time I see it's been on my new post list. Which means I have about 5 views also. For what it's worth, I can not cast a vote either way. DOU is a social clan built around a camping server and the enjoyment that it brings. In theory the members support the majority cost of the server with maybe a few outside hardcore campers making donations.(Would like to know the exact stat).

In any organization, members come and go but to keep going we must have an open source for campers to decide they would be honored to become a member of Clan DOU. In the same breath, that is supported by a well rounded and run camping server, the Forum, Ventrilo, DOU vs DOU matches and Fragnation matches. Not much can compare to a 5V5 match as far as getting exited to a point my hands shake and the enjoyment of winning as team, not to mention the quality of the camping effort(Less of course a few of the run and gun teams.) OR the anxiety when 5 {OMFG} guys come into the server and run the server down to nobody left. We have rules that govern the type of play expected on the server. We have multiple servers which support just about any type of play and or practice and with open communication a person could almost always conjure up a game to his liking. We as a clan can not allow a few "F-tards" to run off solid long time members as we need these members to keep DOU the place that made it so popular. I have also seen these same f-ktards chase out an almost full server down to a few hard core players, running off people that were just there to enjoy their free time. I just don't know if it is just to blame it all on the Canadians, though they seem hell bent on making life rough for DOU.

I think if you look at all the UT99 clans, very few can say they have survived as long as DOU and we just need to keep doing what we need to do with the tools that we have. I don't mind doing some monitoring of the server as long as it isn't a full time effort and or becomes NAZI Ville. I believe we are doing exactly what needs to be done by open communication and come up with some ideas on how to keep the core of DOU healthy and long lived.

There is a difference between just rulebreakers and total cheaters. The cheating bastards we obviously need rid of. If the ISP block works then that shouldn't be an issue. If they stay around then maybe the password would help with them. The other problem of rule breakers is slightly different. Some of those never read the warnings because they never read anything. Some after getting kicked a couple times will begin to obey the rules. Some will just need kicked and banned after multiple problems. They should not be a recurring problem, deal with them a few times and then ban if they won't listen. I think we would be better off with more people having the ability to kick problem players that assault and run. Part of the problem is jut that we get so many new people here because the server is popular. So there are always new people needing to learn the rules. Most do, some don't want to and need kicked.

If the server is passworded then the problem would be, to what degree can we stand certain people and allow someone the password? For instance many don't like the playing style of OMA-your momma, or TKK-paglicia, or JK47. 😕 So how do you decide? You let one member of another clan know and they all know it. With a passworded server we would get way less new players because they would go elsewhere rather than come to the forum and apply for the password.

Look at how popular the ZSZ server is with their restrictive shit. I hardly ever see anyone on there. Even one of their main guys is here on DOU vent all the time, and his girlfriend won't even join them. Do we want this server to get like that?

Oh and also, how about for the runners that won't listen a way to kick them to the freestyle server when it's ready?

It's nice to see people expressing their frustration and possible solutions. I applaud those of you with the courage to make your opinions known, even those whose opinions differ from mine.

I'm not a fan of too many mods. I believe they limit the "fun" and thereby cause even the regulars we enjoy to give second thought to playing here. lol, ZSZ, PST. These servers became very unpopular for running too many mods. I think that not only would that kill the server traffic but, eventually, the clan along with it.

Ideally, I'd like to see some kind of software/program we could run on the server to give us the ability to block these arogant bastards from hacking there way back onto the server after being banned, allthough I'm not sure such a thing exists.

I know there are plenty more of you out there with thoughts on this, share ! 😉

Until a few months ago I never played on any sniper server other than DOU. Now I'm finding if I want a quality time without all the hassles I usually have to go elsewhere.

Something needs to be done. Sure, mods will slow down the traffic and the server won't be as popular. But why is that so damn important anyhow? I'd rather play on a less popular server than dealing with the crap.

Suggestions for mods:

-No revenge for the revengers

-Either a no-run like in the FN ladder or one where you lose health for the runners

-No close kills for the assaulters

I would like to see some of theese MODs too but how badly will it effect us?

LT.Z has been coming to Ventrilo recently, but he is a very quiet, nice guy. He just recently downloaded Ventrilo.

As a matter of fact, while he was in Ventrilo with us, the 2 jerkoffs came in.

He left that clan because of all this.

I would be shocked if he was one of the trouble makers.

I also spectated him, he is a very solid camper.
