SpectatorPlusV2

SpectatorPlusV2 has been installed on the sniper server. This mutator password protects the spectator slots. When you try to join the server as a spectator you will be presented with a window asking for a password. Enter it correctly and you connect to the server as a spectator. Enter it wrong and you are kicked.

Spectating on the sniper server is not to be abused. You should not be connecting to see where other people are hiding. This is why we removed the spectator slots in the first place (can anybody say "SoReal?"). As such, the spectator password is not to be shared with anybody.

The password is: stalker

There will only be 2 spectator slots. I don't see a reason for more than that.

The mut will go live after a server reboot.

I love the password.

I tried it out this afternoon. It works well and is a good idea. If we are playing on the server and suspect someone of cheating, we can now view their activities to be sure instead of just guessing.

If those of us that are not admins find someone that is disobeying the rules, what do you want us to do?

Also, it would be nice to have a list of those with admin rights so that we will know who to report activities to.

Everything in due time. I got spectatorplus installed today and then went ahead and got mapvotela13 installed. Tonight I will get a working list of 10+ player maps and we will go from there.

Please remember, with regard to the spectatorplus, that this should not be abused. As for cheaters, it will be very hard to tell if someone is cheating using this. If they are running radar or an aimbot, you will not see anything. I would imagine the best use of this is to spectate run and gunners to bust them and then deal with them (more in another thread tonight about this). But remember, abuse is sitting in spectator mode watching people play and learning their hiding spots. Doing this is very unethical and something that the players should not have to endure. If anybody keeps breaking this rule, they will lose admin priv's.

Over the next few days, I recommend that everybody try spectatorplus a few times and get it out of your system.

Also, if I see people in specplus and I need a slot if I am working on the server, don't be surprised if you find yourself kicked (as happened this afternoon). No offense is intended, but if I need a slot to do actual work then I will not hesitate to open a spot up for myself.

I would also suggest going into spectator under an alias to keep from tipping off an alleged rule breaker.

I plan to use Rooster.

How would that help? I think the opposite would be better. Go in as a clan member and then if necessary confront the person as a clan representative. That way you can say, yes I did see you doing such and such, I was just spectating you.

Yes, I noticed that I got kicked. I was actually watching a TKK member to see if they were R&Ging (which they kinda were). If I interpret the rules correctly, then a player should got to where they are going and plant themselves. This person was not.

I don't see myself using this too much though. If there is fear of abuse, then just give the server admins the password.

Going in with the colors flying could end up in a game of cat and mouse with the alleged rule breaker but you've been at this longer than I so I won't bother with it. I'll just follow Shorties lead and go elsewhere when I run into problem players.

I suggest "admin" as a spectating name. Those who use UTcheck can see everyone on the server even who's spectating.

"admin" is a name and not a title in that case and those who don't use to stick to the rules would play fairly if they see the spectator's name.

an opinion...
