de mismatch error

Everytime I try connecting to the UT99 server, I get an error message...

Connection Failed

Package 'de' version mismatch

Any idea to what this is?

Thanks!

Sure Mike,

There appear to be many versions of DE out there. All you need to do is find DE in your system folder and delete it. You will then download the new version from the server and be able to play. Check after you download it to see if you can get on your old favorite servers as well.

And welcome to our forum πŸ˜€

Here is the "why" of de.u version mismatches.

There are 3 versions of this file that are common. The first comes with the game. The second comes with the bonus packs. The 3rd comes with version 4.51 of the server.

Here is what usually happens. A person puts up a server (de.u version #1). He then patches the server to version 4.51 (de.u version #3). He then installs the bonus pack files (de.u version #2).

See what happened there? Version #3 is over-written by version #2. It is a common mistake that happens all the time.

Thanks Tommy. That one always seemed to be the worst missmatch of the bunch.

Is version 3 compatable with the other two?

Just wondering because I can connect to servers running different versions of the game without incident. Odd that the company would do this.

The 4.36 de might be the same as the 4.51 one. That would make sense I think, but I never bothered looking.
