PowerStripped

I've noticed some players, such as myself have trouble in UT because of the brightness, Even though it's cranked all the way up, it's still hard to see (I know your behind me on this one Musette!)

I've found a good little utility called PowerStrip

It has alot of good features for video, to adjust the gamma, and brightness of your video card, But also allows you to do so in game while your playing, without having to leave the game.

The controls are simply

Ctrl Alt Num+ increases gamma/brightness on primary video adapter

Ctrl Alt Num- decreases gamma/brightness on primary vdeo adapter

I've supplied the download Here

the password is ' duke '

I'm going to host it for 2 weeks, If the link does not work afterwards, You will have to email me or PM me for the download.

It should, it supports the first venerable Matrox Millennium I to the latest ATI X850 and NVidia SLI solutions. The only program of its type to support multiple graphics cards from multiple chipset vendors.

Theres no actual way to stop that, but in the community (and as far as I am concerned too) it is considered cheating.

The dark areas are dark for a reason, to be dark.

That was my first thought also. I will not use it. If it cannot be done with what came with the game it is a cheat.

I agree. It shouldn't be allowed. :nonono:

I agree if it is a special trick but in that case, this program (I tried) does the same thing you can do with your screen setup (brightness up or down).

Otherwise, it allows to correct gamma for drawing or for pictures... may be a further use ?...

I see bison's screenshot's and others screenshots, and their brightness is way up, you can see everything It's a heck of alot brighter than mine, and my brightness is up as far as it can go (in game), PowerStripdoes the same thing that your video card settings do,

For most cards all it takes is a right click on your ATI Icon in your task bar, or your NVidia Icon in the task bar to adjust the gamma,

The only diffrence is you can pre-set gamma to change when launching diffrent games (Some Video devices allow this and you can also pre-set programs/games to adjust gamma/brightness when launching them.

feel free to delete the post alltogether if you think its still cheating,

Either case, its still a good program 🙂

Unless it will let you see through walls, or auto-shoot as soon as a target gets in your crosshairs, I dont see it as a cheat, It's just an additive to your OS which everyone "Already Has" with their video card Taskbar icons.

Tommy, It does not make the dark area's brighter,

It does "Exactly" what the brightness bar in your Options>Video in UT does,

It's not a cheat... it doesn't modify UT from it's original production... it's just like having a laptop with brightness controls on the function keys... it's an additive utility to your O.S... either use the keyboard or fumbling with the monitor...
