Actually, no way to change the xhair colour (you're right : except before zooming) but you can change the crosshair itself ! Did you noticed you can ?...

Hey, something I actually know about.

Open UT in the tool bar got to options, then preferences, then HUD. At the bottom you can pick red, blue, or green. Just put the color you want's slide to the right.

If you go back out to the tool bar then MOD you can change the Zoom field in the gun too.

Umm ok run that last part by me again. After you change it under preferences and then you go into MOD? What is MOD and how do I go into that?

Mod is also in the tool bar at the top. In there you can change the crosshairs in zoom mode. there are slides to config the zoom mode how you want it to look.
