8) No dropping trans to hunt or otherwise get a frag. This has come up many times recently and been the cause of many problems. Players that drop their trans disc to hunt will be kicked. If you want to run a few steps to get some boots or recover some health, fine. If an admin decides you are doing otherwise you will be booted. This is a camping server and we do not want that type of game play here.

Seems to me you were doing otherwise....

We will await the reaction of the Admin who has kicked you.

When you interpret the rule like that anything thats not dropping the trans and running to get boots or health can be deemed as 'otherwise' and hence illegal. This obviously includes using the trans to get to a spot or using the trans to move around at all...

Obviously my example is ridiculous but makes perfect sense when you take it out of the context of the rest of the rules... like you did just now... lol

I think normally this should be correct because is a defensive action...

I used to do this constantly to defend myself from deemers in other servers...

On the other hand I understand the difficulty for the administrators to interpret what is happening in each case...

When you're using your x-loc like that it isn't dropped somewhere where it is just lying around....

I ALWAYS play according to the rules and I am a serious player... so where does it say I can't drop my xloc?

Anyway... I do believe you were the one who kindly suggested I voice my grievances over here on the forum.

Besides I was making a point on the logic of taking that statement out of the context of the surrounding statements. As I pointed out in the example I made it is ridiculous but logical... when you take the highlighted statements out of context you can infer than ANYTHING not running to get health or armour is illegal. You could even take it as far as, standing still, shooting people etc... which is going in to the realms of utterly stupid.

My point is... read the rule as a whole. Did I break it? NO

Ok ok I am not looking to start a fight but... I'm gonna put my cards on the table here...

Look... as far as I am concerned I was playing quite happily on pizzashop when all of a sudden bang I lose connection. Anyways I figure my net has dropped out... no biggie DOU has resurrector its probably my net... so I close out of UT to check my connection and to my suprise I find everything working... so I reopen UT try to connect to DOU and I get connection failed. I did not get an ASC kick message so I figure maybe its the server acting up so I try our server... everythings fine. I try DOU a few more times then think to check the system console and I see connection refused.

When I get in next map the admin claims to have spammed the chat for me to recover the disk. I am gonna say this now I DID NOT SEE ANY IN CHAT MESSAGE THAT SAID ANYTHING OF THE SORT. The odds of me not seeing such a message spam I judge to be about 0.1% due to the beep noise chat messages make. This causes me to draw the conclusion such chat messages either never existed or the admin greatly exaggerated the number of messages sent.

I will also point out again... dropping disk=NOT ILLEGAL read the rule it clearly says dropping disk+hunting=kick.

If the rule is supposed to be any dropping disk=kick that is what it should say on the list...

I could go on to ask why people were speccing me out in the first place and will again point out. I WAS NOT BREAKING ANY RULES.

Yes it is a DOU server and DOU can kick whoever they like for whatever reason they like because they are paying for the server and that is their right BUT I do not take kindly to being sworn at and told I'm breaking rules when its obvious I'm not. If you kick me because you don't like me or whatever reason you have... call it that don't try and legitamise it with lies or other excuses...

I came here to try and sort out a misunderstanding with incorrect rule enforcement. Instead I'm getting sworn at and talked down to etc... not fun.

The point is quite simple: Always listen to an Admin.

He has warned you several times. When you didn't read it or saw it, its not the Admins fault but yours.

I asked the DOU guys next map what had happened and they replied I was kicked for leaving trans and I was told to recover it 10 times and in the middle of the screen. I did not see any of the chat messages, which is why I didn't respond...

Oh also I was playing under the name Shatter since my brother is staying with me atm resulting in my ping being somewhat spikey at times.

If I got to your rules they say:

However I read this rule I don't see how what I was doing infringed on it. After all I'm not hunting and I'm not getting extra frags because I dont get a different field of fire from the spot my disc is in.

I'm not angry or anything but either fix the rule on the website to fit what you are doing or let the guys who are trying to help by enforcing rules know about the nuances of this particular rule.

That can be verified in chat logs by senior admins if you like.

Second anyone dropping a trans other then for a health or power pick up is asked to pick it up. No you weren't using it to hunt, but using it as a defense and possibly to attack from another place if a player were to shoot at you.

The fact that you are questioning an admin saddens me, knowing now who you are.

To put things in perceptive we have been dealing with a very busy server, we have had many trouble makers and many players with complete disregard for the server rules, to the point that many of our own members won't play here.

Saturday night many of us went to your server to play as ours was full, I certainly hope our members always respect your server rules and obey your admin.

that is all I have to say and conciser this matter closed.

Yes I do understand the difficulties of running a busy server. But at the same time legitamising a kick with said player failed to follow every instruction even though he wasn't doing anything wrong and minding his own buisness. When you use phrases like 'saddens me' it gives the impression I was doing something wrong... I wasn't doing anything wrong, I wasn't trying to do anything wrong. You do not have to kick a player who 'might' do something wrong. Because obviously then you would have no players left.

What offends me most is I was told I was breaking rules which is something I pride myself on NOT doing.

yes extreme example but at the same time its basically what he claims to be asking.

The rule looks pretty clear to me I don't feel it needs to be revised but I will ask other admins.

If you did not see the warnings it is unfortunate but not my fault .

It was posted clearly center of the screen in caps.

I did what I am supposed to do as admin.

This was only a game kick to get your attention, Due to the fact I could not get your attention during game play.

Nothing to get upset and lose sleep over we all play for fun and just try to keep the playing field fair for all players.

I was camping and camping hard, thats what I do I pick a spot and I sit and sit and sit some more. The trans was there as a defensive measure only.

I am no longer bothered about the kick that is resolved as far as I'm concerned. You made your point, I get it 😛 however I hear any more stuff about me breaking rules and I will be getting pissy for obvious reasons... lol
