So by this I understand that unless you have heard of a musician he cannot be great? You need to expand your horizons my friend. I guarantee you have heard his playing.
He won three Grammys and was nominated for an Academy Award. He has played with many orchestras, The Beatles, George Harrison. and many more. Even the great (unless you have never heard of him either, of course) jazz sax man John Coltrane named his son after him.
