Cat survives 19 story fall...and walks away without a scratch

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2118827/Cat-survives-19-storey-fall-window.html

Sugar the cat may have used up more than one of her nine lives after she fell out of the 19th floor of her owner's apartment building.

Miraculously, Brittany Kirk's white furred cat survived the 200 feet fall from the high rise window in Boston and walked away without a scratch or broken bone.

Ms Kirk had cracked the window open in her apartment to let in the breeze because of the particularly warm weather yesterday.

Sugar landed on a very small patch of mulch, the point of impact and the fur she lost can be seen in the picture

Surprisingly, rescuers say research suggest that cats have a better chance of surviving falls when they’re from higher than nine floors.

'The cats were able to relax, orient themselves in a flying squirrel position with the legs spread out. It slowed their descent down.'

After the incident, Ms Kirk called the managers of her high rise to have a screen installed on her window.

This story reminded me of a joke.

Philosophy professor tells his students about an event.

- A man fell out of the 10th floor of apartment building. He survived. Nothing had happened to him. What do you think about this case?

- It happens sometimes - said one of the students.

- All right, let it be. Imagine, the same man fell out of the 10th floor again and he survived again. What will you say now?

- He was just lucky - said another students.

- Lucky? OK. The man fell out of the 10th floor third time. Lucky again?

Students agreed that it was a miracle.

The professor continued.

- Imagine, the same man falls out of the 10th floor over and over again. And still remained alive. And what ...?

One of the students answered - It's a habit, sir.

Habits are different
