Tomatoes

True story:

My 15 year old son asks me the other day, "Dad, tomatoes are fruits, right?"

I tell him that yes, technically a tomato is a fruit.

He then asks me why nobody considers ketchup a smoothy...

πŸ™„ :banghead: :togo:

Yup, he's definitely mine.

Well, actualy a tomato is a vegetable.

But it sure is funny the way kids think...

*EDIT

Botanically a tomato is a fruit, but In 1893 the U.S. Supreme Court of the US decided that according to the American law it is officialy considered as a vegetable. πŸ™‚

Botanically speaking, the tomato is a fruit.

Speaking from a culinary point of view, the tomato is a vegetable.

This is supposed to be the forum of fun, but to bore you all with my useless trivia, way back in the 1880's and 1890's, there were cases that went all the way to the Supreme Court to decide whether or not it was a fruit or vegetable, because imported vegetables (like tomatoes, at the time) were taxed. The Supreme Court decided they were, in fact, veggies.

What do they know?

**Edit** Saw Natan's edit shortly after I posted mine. Didn't mean to be repetitive!

Joke πŸ˜€

Two tomatose were crossing a street.

A rushing quickly car pulped one of them.

The second tomato looked at lying pulp and said:

- Get up Ketchup, we must go on!

:gib:

P.S.

Tomato is a fruit, but in my kitchen is a vegetable

Simple recipe:

Take a slice of bread and brush it with butter.

Put on one or two slices of tomato.

Sprinkle with the diced chive or put slices of onion on it.

Add salt and pepper on top.

Yummy
