Yah, seems they ordered an email account and merchandise. Turns out the email account was cancelled due to spam and the merchandise never went through cause the address didn't match my card. Yah I reported card lost or stolen. Pretty scarey stuff. ๐Ÿ˜•

Glad to hear that it was caught before any damage was done. I hate thieves, and wished that the middle eastern punishment would be adopted in America. Maybe that would teach them a lesson.

Someone steals a pack of bologny to feed their family, so you chop off their hand at the wrist, you wish that was adopted in the US? Really?

Wow. You must have a crow problem looking at the size of that strawman.

๐Ÿ™„

If this person is able to work, and does not have a job, then yes. And before you say it, if he lost his job, then he can deliver pizzas, dig ditches, or do whatever.

Simple fact: Theft is against the law.

And the punishment should fit the crime?

You didn't really think I was gonna let this slide, did you? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

"Strawman" Fallacy: A caricature of your opponent's view set up simply so that you can knock it down.

Seeing how I did not present you with a caricature of your premise and conclusion, this was not a strawman.

Rather than the strawman, I used a debate technique called a "counterexample."

Counterexample: A particular case which refutes a generalisation. Generalisations can be shown to be false by means of a single exception.

Shall I continue?

It was not I who committed a fallacy, but you.

"That's a fallacy" Fallacy: The manoeuvre of falsly accusing someone of committing a fallacy.

Ouch!

Sorry Jarg, but this is what I studied in college (arguementation).

Slightly related, see also:

"Black-and-white thinking"

Erm, if someone needs food for their family there are so many charities out there that would help, including religious ones like 'Catholic Charities'. No need to steal.
