Job Opportunites in The South East

I know we have a few members/guests in NC and SC so I thought I might pass this along.

This is information about the the Airbus 350 site. For those of you who don't know, the 350 is the Airbus competitor to Boeings' 787. The manufacture of the 787's fuselage was originally supposed to be done in NC but moved to Charleston SC.

So the 350 plant is just about done - so I hear - and Airbus is undergoing a MAJOR hiring effort to man the plant. Part of the deal with NC is that Airbus will create a huge number of entry level jobs for mal-qualified applicants with paid training starting at around $15 and hour. Basically this means that anyone that can hold a torque wrench, use a drill and has work ethic is a potential employee. Now - another thing I know is that Airbus is putting together a pretty handsome benefits package to compete with Boeing's current offerings. I work for Boeing and I have never seen a better benefits package. 401K matching 7% starts on the first day of employment + full health, dental up to $2000 a year and vision all starting on the first day as well. PTO (personal time off) is awarded at 2.5 hours per week worked. Thats a total of 12 extra paid days off a year PLUS all major holidays and the weekly option for over-time and double time if you work on Sundays. The Boeing plants in SC are scheduled to stay functional for 30+ years as is the Airbus Plant in NC.

Boeing is currently planning to build it's final assembly plant in Charleston and will be creating another 1500 jobs to man that plant in the coming years. They are also creating another line at my plant in which there will be another 500-700 jobs created within the next 10 months. Hiring for those spaces has already started.

In wrap-up, I'm trying to tell you guys that this is a hell of an opportunity for NC and SC residents with no previous aerospace experience. And maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity at that.

For info on Boeing plants just Google 787.......

Happy Labor Day!

Negative - neither the Airbus 350 nor the Boeing 787 has flown yet. Boeing says the 787 will fly by the end of the year. Currently both company's are **stress testing them. Airbus is Boeing's competitor and trying to manufacture an aircraft like the 787. Airbus is the largest aircraft maker in the world - but are also responsible for some for the most recent accidents which may be what you are referring to, including the Airfrance accident over the Atlantic two months ago. If you are flying book a 747 or a 777 - they're strong planes with proven reliability. I think Air-Force 1 is a 777.

Anyway both planes will be made of composite material which will significantly reduce fuel consumption, allow them to fly higher for longer and Boeing is actually selling the 787 with a 40 year guarantee. Just Google 787 - this aircraft will change the face of aeronautics forever. Some are comparing the 787 to the 30's aircrafts when they went from wooden airplanes to ones made of steel. No one thought you could fly an aircraft made of metal and said the idea was ludicrous and absurd.

The point is - there are some strong employment opportunities currently unfolding down here. Whether you fly or not - you can set yourself up for a secure future right now.

**I take it back - Airbus has yet to test the 350. My fault.

The benefits look great and the starting salary is very good for this part of the country. I don't know where Kinston is, but I will look it up on the map.

Thanks Otis 😀

Either way, the last 2 planes (commercial) to drop out of the sky were Airbuses.
