What you guys / gals that have, or have had recommend. It will be mainly used for hunting and will be a used one. Pros and cons of all are welcome. Actually looking at a Polaris but its got high miles on it. It's a 2003 Sportsman 700 I believe.
I'm a big fan of the Yamaha raptors, allthough this may be serious overkill for what you have in mind.
The powerband is so broad you can twist your way out of deep sand in 3rd gear.Suspension is good too, even on the older models allthough the stance was not quite as wide. Pretty tough off the showroom floor.

I would suggest a Kawasaki Brute Force 750. Put 1000 miles on mine this summer and generally beat the fuck out of it. We have 3 of them all 08s. My best friend got a 09 Polaris 800HO and after riding both I still love the Kawi. They are faster off the line, top speed and when going from medium speeds. They are also about 300lbs lighter. No to mention they have metal racks unlike the Polaris which will shatter with minimal impact. Mine has been to hell and back on the farm and on the mountain trials and the only problem it ever had after a roll and many impacts into cattle was the shitty stock Dunlap tires. Which I replaced with a set of Mud Lite XTR's.
Polaris is weak and wallowy and heavy. I like the kawasakis a lot. Honda has some really nice mid size machines that may be a better deal than the bigger ones. Kawi also has some nice ones. I wouldn't own another one without EFI. Sweet as hell when it's below 0 and it just starts right up. Awesome.

Yes, a tad overkill for what I need 😉
I'll get more info on the machine when I go to work later. I know right now he wants $3500 for it, but he told me if he still has it after new years it will come way down. We'll see...
He sold that one so I guess I keep looking...
08+ would be best for cold weather though
same color as mine
Yamaha and Honda ATV's make me laugh. The thought of an Asian dude riding a Quad makes me giggle.
Seriously tho I would go for a Polaris or an Arctic Cat.
