Looks as though SAS's UT 99 server is closing down as of May 07 as well. Bummer 🙁 That server always had action.
Did they give a reason?
UT99 is slowly dying down as newer games, and newer hardware are becoming more accessible. I still think that there is life in the old girl, just not as vibrant as it used to be.

Yes, the reason is that they want their server rules (stictly camping and sniping and not "hunting") to be respected. I read a huge post about that on their forum. (fyi http://www.sassniperclan.com )
There's was no way to keep it as they wanted. At the same time they couldn't do a good policy to warn and kick/ban the run and gunners or hunters on UT99 server and 2K4 server so, they decided to only keep the 2K4 going on and shut the UT99 for good.
But Bison is right, it was a server with many people all the time (like their 2K4 is now). A certain Juan (a french guy) was incredible without R&G !.. I said "was" but it will be down tomorrow. The post I read says May 7th.
Right now they survey their 2K4 server A LOT !
As they have regulary almost full house (20 players), you can't imagine the numerous admin's warning messages that are displayed against the players that don't follow their rules. And after a some warnings without effect : they ban. I already saw some.
I was trying to play and jour ago (1:00 AM EST) and there were only two frenchies playing... run and gunning, treating themselves with bird names and I left.
So I think they're right to keep the pressure in policing a lot. They are three admins surveying the server here and there.
I love their server and I'd like we could have ours close to what they did.
You know, when it happens that nobody plays in theirs, I can see (All Seeing Eye) that some of their regulars go to other servers but come back as soon as they see other people in it.
SAS is a really good example to follow. IMO 😉
Thanks for the info Moon :peace_v: I was wondering myself. All I seen was the message flash on the server while playing.
Hunting, Camping and Sniping are the same thing mostly...
Running and Gunning is their problem when one person is tired of waiting for a kill when his score is lower than someone else or just trying to find a good spot...
Anyways... It is sad to see a great server go down when it is verry popular amongst the crowd of other great servers...

no disrespect zero but hunting is not camping ie the definition of hunting is tracking someone to kill them camping is setting hiding waiting for the right shot being patient not to be tic tac but if anyone is hunting on our servers we consider that a serious rule infraction 😈
