Yes but it sounds cool on lots of different guitars, I've heard it on a few BCR's too 😉

So are you a shredder, or a rhythm guy like me? (lead vox)

You are right about the weight of the Les Paul, I try to set up the set lists so that I can play the Les Paul for a few songs, followed by a strat, followed by my hollowbody. (which, by the way is also a heavy mother) 🙂
On the B.C.Rich I am not aware of the coil-splitter; it has two humbuckers and a standard three-way toggle. A coil splitter in my understanding converts a humbucker to a single-coil in functionality...am I close?

Yes, exactly S.O.C..
Never really liked the way it sounds in a Paul but on Strat style bodies it's pretty cool. It's even better combined with a phase switch. You split out a coil from the treble position humbucker, reverse the phase, and all of a sudden you sound like Stevie Ray 😆

I need to look into this. I am always looking for ways to make new noises on my axe. I use an eBow, a Heil Talk Box, various slides and alternate tunings. You?
I'm not really active anymore, seems like all I do is work. I played lead and rythm guitar in a number of bands it was a lot of fun. Still have my gear allthough most of it is in storage. I was told I was pretty good but hell there are tons of guitar players. I played well enough to have a great time and that's good enough for me 😆 .
I play a little slide, use effects and such. Haven't used a wah wah pedal in a looong time. I like using a whammy bar and some two handed stuff. I play with a stainless steel pick, get's a lot of attack and some interesting harmonics but doesn't flex at all.

Cool man,..I bet you get some gnarly gouges in your guitar using a steel pick! I like the two-handed thing as well, although I only break it out on special occaisions. Same with my talk box or ebow. I try to keep the effects to a minimum so that when I do use them, they kinda take people by suprise. (Sometimes they take me by suprise if I F them up) lol
Like you, I have been in bands for years (since 15) and now I am in my first original band. We're about a year into it. We have recorded a dozen songs now and I am doing the copywriting currently, so that I can start to get them out there to be heard. It may be a better retirement plan than my 401K or winning the lottery. lol
See ya,
