Just out of curiosity I put the above text into the Google Translator (from English to Polish). What did I receive?
"Ostatniej nocy leżałem w łóżku patrząc na gwiazdy na niebie i pomyślałem sobie, gdzie jest piekło".
Translating it back to English I received:
"Last night I lay in bed looking at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself where the hell is." 
And all this because of the quotation mark at the beginning of the sentence.
If you skip it, the translation will be correct.
"Last night ... ceiling"
and
Last night ... ceiling"
