Please tell me you (some) guys are not still using this tweak/cheat....

we have this logged over 10x,so its no accident here!

HE IS USING AN ILLEGAL UT INI TWEEK TO REMOVE SHADOWS/ADD LIGHT.
ON SNIPER MAPS,THIS MEANS THAT THE PLAYER CAN SEE IN THE DARK AREAS VERY EASILY AND SPOT PLAYERS HIDING WITHOUT ISSUE.
THIS IS DEFINATELY AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE OVER OTHER PLAYERS!

This log is only a week or so old and i know Balony was not a DoU member the first time you (some) guys were caught using this a few years back.
Not sure how DoU feels about this unfair advantage, but in the UT community.... this is considered NOT COOL!
So ban him.

The position of DOU on this point is that we do not regard this as a cheat like aimbot or radar and therefor alow the use of it on our server.
We do inform players who use it to respect the opinion of other clans on the subject and therefor warn them not to use it on their servers. When playing on other servers than DOU we do expect that DOU members follow the rules of that clan and its server.
Keep in mind that the official point of view of the clan doesn't have to mean that every single members agrees on the subject, but as a clan its our officilal statement.

Yeah I'm not trying to start any bad blood here, I was just informing you guys and the community of my findings. I wasn't aware that this tweak/unfair advantage was allowed on your server. I guess all I/we can ask is you try to keep it on your server and not use it while playing on others. As all the server admins I've spoken with said they won't tolerate this kind of advantage, and agree to expose those who do... That's my reasoning behind my post.

I/we have him logged with a few ips.... It is him, he has a static ip but the range is always the same. If you would like I can post more definitive logs here showing this.... It is not an imposter playing as him, Bison was correct in saying playing from the same house or same pc.
If a DOU member is doing something that is against the rules on your, or other servers, just kick him or ban him. We dont have any problem with that.

Yup, that was his too. If the 68.103.160.218 isn't his, then someone has his login for the forum and has made 82 posts on his behalf 😉

Hard to believe people are still whining about this command. That's right, it is a command that you type into the the game that lightens things up. It's not a cheat, hack or even unfair because it was designed into the game and can be used by EVERYONE.
Showing us a cheat log is pretty much meaningless because you can make a detection program to pick up any damn thing you dislike and call it it a cheat.
So what actually happened here was a program which was made aftermarket was corrupted to the point where it would call a legitimate command in UT99 a cheat.
So whine all you like, it's all just crying about somebody using a part of the game others don't like. Ban him off your server if it'll give you your daily jollies but don't come here and try to bullshit us like he was using a hack. If it was built into the game by the designers you dont have a leg to stand on.
BTW, in case you're wondering, I dont use the command myself and anyone who's been around here awhile knows Balony and I are not best buddies. But I call it like it is and you are just trying to blow smoke up our asses.

I really don't remember coming across a command like this when I played the game offline a few yrs back. Don't think I've seen it either... can't find it. lol.

Cheating refers to an immoral way of achieving a goal. It is generally used for the breaking of rules to gain advantage in a competitive situation.If lighting up a dark area of map to gain advantage over other players is not cheating then wall hacks and radar are not cheats either.
Another form of video game cheating is when a player does things unforeseen by the programmers to permit changes to the way enemies are encountered (or objectives met). This could be through means of a "Hack" where altered game files are substituted for the normal files, or image graphics changed to permit greater visibility of the targets, etc.
this hack does not come with the game, it is an exploit/tweak that some smart player/comp geek figured out.
There are people commenting here, that don't use this and have no fucking clue what it does or what the fuck they are talking about.
A cheat is a cheat, call it whatever the fuck you like to justify your purpose.
when I win a match I feel good that I did it with skill and no other help.
some peeps feel that dark skins are cheating, think what you will do what you want and fuck right off.
I play pure.
I would also like to add. I did not learn of this tweak until after I joined DOU, if I had known I may not have joined, but my main reasons for joining DOU was not due to game play, we have way more fun on TS goofing on the rest of you fucking assholes.
