Bought one in '98. Sold it over Ebay a couple of years ago. Never flew it. It is flying in Arizona somewhere now.

Is yours an expensive one or one of these"park flyer" types that you see in Wal-Mart?

It was'nt real expensive, I have not seen the ones at wal-mart, the people at the hobby shop i went to kinda made me buy this one because i have never flown or really know any thing about the things. It does have a electric motor though. Once i get he hang of it and sure that i just won't ruin a more expensive one I'll probably upgrade to a fuel driven plane. Know of any good places to read about model planes? Or any advice would be most appreciated.

Do you live in a "flat" area or do you have hills mountains if so try a glider battery powered but only powering servos so last longer you just use the wind currents, i got one but never got around to flying it mine has a 2 metre wing span...

I live in Iowa so there is plenty of flat land, and there are some hills but very woody. I saw a glider at the store and it looked sweet, think i will eventually try one out

I fly full-sized airplanes but have been interested in RC's. Be a great way to keep my chops down during the cold months. What kind of RC did you get and how do you like it so far?

I brought a r/c plane first time out I smashed it at full speed into the ground. It has sat in the box ever since but I am thinking of getting a helicopter so hopefully more luck with that. 😈

Get a taste of religion...lick a witch!

See there, ya did the smart thing by not breaking the bank on your first one. Good move. Once you get that one figured out then spend the big bucks and enjoy!

Those are really tough to fly and a cheaper (but not cheap by any means) electric model is probably a good idea for getting the feet wet. A friend of mine dropped a few hundred on a nice gas powered one, carbon blades, etc, etc....crashed it bad and never bothered to try again.

Helicopters are the absolute HARDEST thing to fly in R/L and R/C.

Guys I know that fly fixed wing R/C's dream of having the skill, time and money to get into rotary wing.

Learn on your learner's plane, get your feet into it. You will spend more time at the store buying parts and fixing the think on the desk than you will spend time flying it at first. The beginner planes are great, you will learn how to turn it and fly it in all directions and orientations and once you are used to that you can graduate into fueled planes and helos...

Here's one to whet your appetite:

BTW, if anybody in the store offers you advice, ask if you can go out with him and watch him fly his bird. Then judge the skill and knowledge involved in that advice for yourself. 🙂
