Translocator questions

I don't know what other category to put this in, since it's just general UT stuff.

There are some players who are extraordinarily adept at using the translocator. Meat is one, of course, and I see Elvis is getting good, and a couple of others.

I do not understand how they do what they do. Doesn't UT force a delay of a second or two between uses of the TL? When I fall off a platform, I cannot use the TL to get me back up faster than I am falling. How do some players use it to virtually fly around a map? I just finished playing Elvis on CG, and he would avoid being killed by jumping off the platform, and then TL back up. If I fall off, let alone jump off, I'm done.

Another example of the delay: when I try to TL to a higher location, the only sure way I can do it is to toss the TL, then wait until the light goes on. If I try to make the jump before that, it will fail.

So what gives? Am I just too dense to figure it out? (Well, those could be unrelated questions.)

First of all, a short ping is reqiered ! Meat has a very good ping. He always had, especially on his own server !

I played one map on his server a few days ago and he could translocate him faster than my redeemer following him !!?? He was playing with a 25 ping !!!!!! (see Death Inc on CG : about 30 ping !... He can't be beaten !)

And I think Elvis too has a ping under 70/80.

What could I do in that kind of situation with my 220 average ping ?!! πŸ™

I remember reading in newsgroups a while back also that there was a script which combines the translocator operation into one move...basically. With the script/hack you merely have to click down to fire the translocator and let go to teleport to it...instead of firing and then alt to relocate. So, basically it happens in a single mouse click which would certainly speed things up quite a bit.
