We have to all be careful not to use the DOU tag as a police badge. I recommend that we spectate a player before acusing them of something.
Sometimes a player is being killed over and over then running to a spot which makes it appear that they are running.
The reason I am bringing this up is some of us have been verbally abusing players for doing things that we
think they did, not what they actually did.
Traffic is growing again and we want to keep them around. There is nothing worse than being the only player on.
Please Voice your opinion, even though I know I dont need to ask.
AGREED!
I would also like to add that although we need to remind people whose server they are playing on - that we also need to be conscious of our own complaining, accusations, and general host-like behavior. I've been on several times in the past couple of weeks and have been quite shocked with all of the complaining/policing accusing of our guests. Some of which I am sure is completely justified - BUT can also be viewed by guests new and old as constant bullying/whining.
On another note but a similar topic. I've seen a new recruit sporting the dou-r tag with the dou part in all caps - like this... "DOU". I believe that our policy is for recruits to wear the recruit tag in lower case as to not add confusion to our guests perception. I've asked this recruit to change his tag to the appropriate case - however as soon as I left the server the recruit changed back to all upper case DOU. Is this a problem for anyone else? If so - it needs to be addressed.

Well, that recruit should receive a no vote when it comes time to vote. Should let his sponsor know.

I've send him a PM. let's keep in mind he's just a recruit for two days now, so don't be to hard on him yet.
I've seen 1 recruit and 2 former recruits (members now) on gametracker using the tag in the same way, so it seems like a common mistake to me....
Changing the tag back into capitols when warned is a no go, but sometimes GT shows capitol letters showing who's online, but in the server it is shown as lower case. I have noticed this myself. Maybe that's what you've see Otis?
On the subject now:
I know what you’re trying to say here Wave and I agree with you that we must be careful not to accuse players before we’ve seen ourselves that they actually did cross the line. I don’t ever take players to serious before I’ve seen it happen myself. On the other hand, if a member tells it to me I will take it more seriously, assuming they are telling it from first hand notice. Unfortunately the {DOU} tag sometimes IS a police badge. Guests know exactly who’s an admin and who’s not.
Most players don’t mess with me out of respect I guess but some of them can be real mouthy. I always warn players when they play disrespectful to the rules. However when the server is crowded it’s like swimming into deep water.
Water under the bridge now - his sponsor took care of it. We should stay on topic.
I have ZERO problem to go spectate a problem player if asked to do so while I'm playing. I would just ask that good judgement be used - that's all.
Please feel free to ask if you see me playing and I can help if there's a problem.
Most of you who speak with me on vent know that the language I type to guests and what I say on vent are usually two totally different things:
In Vent: That cocksucker just assaulted me!!!
What is typed: Please don't assault here - this is a camping server
To Wave's point, I think it's wise to use good manners as much as possible to our guests. It sets an example to our recruits and to other members. However, I think there IS a time to take the gloves off - but used only in very rare cases.

Well said Mr U 😉
We can always break out the stick to beat them with later. No matter what the infraction we should exercise diplomacy and self control. Our guest are always watching and sizing us up. Think about it in terms of if I were watching this would I think "I'd like to join this clan" ? Or... "Let me the hell out of this looney bin"
It's not the offenders we want to leave a good impression necesarily, but the other guests.

I too have seen this happen. It causes a lot of problems that should not exist. If there are trouble makers on the server and you do not have admin privilege, then you should respectfully warn the person. If the problem continues, come to vent or here on the security area and post about it including the name of the person and the problem caused. Do not harass them about it as it does no good and makes {DOU} look like whiners.
I promise you that the admins are looking at the post and watching out for anyone that is listed under Security Issues. Let us do our jobs.

This is why I started this thread.
Actually the ones that need to see this the most are the recruits. They cant view this thread can they?
Its a requirement that a player be spectated before commenting on unless its plain to see, also remember that any member wearing the dou tag can loose it for such behavior too and this should equally be reported........

I agree also with Wave.
When I am playing, I usually report the assaults, which I have suffered... but never say nothing about running or other faults of our guests, except when it is too obvious.
When I see a guest running, or I read a claim about the runners, I usually leave the game and enter again in the expectate form to check...
I'd like to bring up that on at least one occaision I observered through the admin that a player was being accused of being Mimetic. When the IP turned up a UK address I mentioned it and the replay was "He's using a proxy".
Folks, you have to be sure about someone before you make an accusation like that. Never assume somebody's using a proxy without proof.
Another thing, imagine the immense satisfaction Mimetic would have if he knows we're accusing every third dick that shows up on our server of being him.
There's nothing wrong with being suspicious. Just dont put it out there for all to see w/o any proof.
