I dug out an old copy of quake 2. I have never played it online, nor have I played the lox mod. I excited about this! If anyone wants to show me the ropes, that would be sweet!

Do not have Tommy show you the ropes. You know those guys that are so good you swear they're cheating because they can hit you from anywhere? When it comes to Q2, that's pretty much Tommy.
